On October 17th, 2024, TELUS World of Science - Edmonton will transform into Edmonton's largest food and drink laboratory for our 8th annual fundraiser, Where Science Meets Cocktails.

Where Science Meets Cocktails is an event like no other. Our regions most talented bartenders and chefs, along with TELUS World of Science - Edmonton's own scientists, showcase the chemistry, biology, and physics behind preparing modern cocktails and cuisine for attendees. In doing so, we will raise much needed funds for the operation of your science centre, so we can continue our mission to: Ignite curiosity. Inspire discovery. Celebrate science. Change lives.

As the glaciers retreated at the end of the last ice age, they left an astounding gift of connected rivers, lakes and wetlands across the heartland of North America. Today, these largely unknown water highways remain an oasis for sustaining wildlife. From the herds of bison that still roam the Great Plains to the vital honeybees that pollinate our crops and especially for the millions of magnificent birds that migrate along these  flyways. 

Wings Over Water tells the story of the epic journeys of three amazing bird families - the Sandhill Crane, the Yellow Warbler and the Mallard Duck - with extraordinary footage of their fascinating behaviors.

Each day is bursting with exciting activities, from designing and launching flying devices to diving into messy and thrilling chemistry experiments. Campers will also get the chance to program robots to dance or draw, navigate through mind-bending laser mazes, and unleash their creativity with out-of-this-world space art.

Incredible Predators deconstructs the world of major predators as never before, taking an intimate look at the remarkable strategies they use to succeed.

Unveiling the most dramatic events, Incredible Predators tells the story of the contests between predators and their prey, showcasing how these supreme species have to be at the very peak of performance to have any chance of success.

The love of science starts early! Join us for an 8 week class full of engaging science for young children in a supportive and exploratory environment. Through storybooks, songs, hands-on activities, and full-body play we'll learn about the science that surrounds us while strengthening science literacy and motor skills. Children and their caregivers will play and learn together as they discover dinosaurs, explore nature, blast-off to outer space, and more!

Highlights:

• Each Week is themed around a different science concept including: Space, dinosaurs, chemistry, health, animals and more!
• Each class concludes with ample time for free play exploration with our themed science experiences.
• Science Tots includes access to our galleries so you and your child can play in CuriousCITY or watch a Zeidler Dome show after class.
• Families will receive a booklet at the end of the program that allows them to recreate the science experiments and lessons from the sessions at home.

The sessions on Sundays and Wednesdays are the same. Please do not register your tot for both days.

For Members registering their tot, please use the name of ONE adult on the membership to book a spot. You will be prompted later for the name of the tot as the registrant.

FAQs:

• Do I have to attend the class with my child?

Yes. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Please do not bring unregistered siblings to the class. However, infants under 12 months old are welcome to join with their older sibling and caregiver if needed.

• What is the cancellation policy?

To request a refund for cancellation of the registered program, please send a written email request at least 21 days before the program's start date. Refunds or transfers will not be provided if the notice is given less than 21 days before the program's start date. Please note that a $15 administration fee will be deducted from all refunds.
