Atoms (Ages 4-5)

Please note: Atoms is a 3 hour, half-day camp.

Calling all little explorers to our camps for our youngest scientists!

Young campers will make HUGE discoveries as they create amazing masterpieces, visit Discoveryland and get their hands on some spectacular science.

Each of our four Science Tot camps follows a different theme, so you can send your curious tots to all four!

Quarks (Ages 4-5)

Volts (Ages 4-5)

Watts (Ages 4-5)

Please Note: Watts is a 3 hour, half day camp.

Themes: Underwater Creatures, Patterns, Building Things, and the Monsters

Each of our four Science Tot camps follows a different theme, so you can send your curious tots to all four!

Animal Trackers (Ages 6-7)

Explore the science centre’s backyard from the historic Queen Elizabeth Planetarium! You’ll experience biology like never before through the discovery of urban wildlife in Coronation Park, the tiny world of microbes using microscopes, and getting up close and personal with our critters.

• A different type of animal each day, such as reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds, and insects

• Meeting a bearded dragon, sugar gliders, and a snake!

This camp is based out of the Queen Elizabeth Planetarium. Campers can be dropped off directly at the QEP beginning at 8:45AM and be picked up there until 4:15PM. *Before 8:45AM and after 4:15PM, campers will be at the main TWOSE building.

 

Dino Diggers (Ages 6-7)

Does your child have a knack for remembering very complicated dinosaur names? Do they want to be a paleontologist when they grow up? Then this is the camp for them! Dino Diggers will use paleontological skills to uncover dinosaur fossils, eggs, and bones. They will learn how dinos walked, how big they were, and get to invent their own dinosaur. Campers will also get to meet some dino relatives up close

• Dinosaur themed activities each day

• Meeting some of the creatures living at the science centre, like our corn snake, bearded dragon, and salamander

 

Junior Scientists (Ages 6-7)

Campers will experience thrills, chills and spills in this introduction to Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Physics and Math! Campers will get their hands-on science as they investigate lung capacity and build a fake lung, challenge themselves to clean up an oil spill and build their own rubber band helicopter while they learn about potential and kinetic energy. Get ready Jr. Scientists - it's time to report for duty!

Astronaut Adventure (Ages 8-9)

Do you have what it takes to survive a mission to Mars? Find out this summer in this cosmic camp that takes place in the historic Queen Elizabeth Planetarium! You’ll get a chance to build your own rocket, solve mission challenges using technology and building materials, and test your skills in the Space Olympics!

• Test astronaut food

• Learn how telescopes work

• Build and launch a rocket

Gadgets & Gizmos (Ages 8-9)

If you can dream it, you can build it! The best way to discover is to design, create, and build in The Science Garage this summer. Use awesome tools to test your ideas, build creative contraptions, and make useful gadgets to bring home. You’ll finish this camp with new maker skills and a passion for creation!

• Use of The Science Garage Workshop as the campers’ home base

• Using real tools for building projects

• Build and launch rockets

 

 

 

Kit Hacking (Ages 8-9)

Pre-packaged science kits are everywhere, but what happens when we don’t follow the instructions? In this camp, your curious kid will get to deconstruct a variety of science kits and investigate the results when their imaginations and creativity take over. If your budding scientist likes to follow their intuition rather than instructions, this is the camp for them!

 

Science Wizardry (Ages 8-9)

Is it magic or science? Campers in Science Wizardry learn the secrets behind mysterious science experiments. Become a potions master as you mix solutions that turn into crystals, harness the power of air as you ride a hovercraft, and learn the art of illusion from trained masters.

• Wizardry-themed science experiments in the fields of chemistry, biology, and physics

• A special guest illusionist visit

• Cool experiments to do at home

 

Stop Motion Animation 1.0 (Ages 8-9)

Lights, camera, action! Our stop-motion animation camp gives campers the tools to create a stop-motion masterpiece. Bring your favourite toys, props, and characters to tell your story; complete with voice-overs, sound effects, and credits. Then invite your family and friends to the premiere in the IMAX® Theatre, and bring your film home for everyone to enjoy.

• Work with specialized software to create original films

• Showcase final films on the big screen

 

Coding for Robots 1.0 (Ages 9-10)

Campers will learn how coding is the language of the future in this exciting new camp. Using a variety of mediums, campers will learn the basics of coding robots, tricks of the trade, and how to solve common problems. A fun and engaging way to train your brain to code.

• Learn to code using robots, and other mediums

• Find out how TWOSE uses coding in everyday life

 

 

Brainiacs (Ages 10-12)

From slimy gloop to space food to perfect bridges, become the brainiac you know you are as you get elbow-deep in science! By the end of the week, you’ll have built an amazing rocket, experienced extreme science experiments, and tested the laws of the universe.

• Group construction of a hot air balloon • Building and launching a rocket.

Coding for Video Games 1.0 (Ages 10-12)

This camp offers gamers the ultimate challenge; design and construct a video game using Scratch programming! Campers learn the basics including creating levels, adding characters, objects, behaviours, and sounds. They will be able to access their game online and continue improving it after camp is over. When campers aren’t working on games of their own, our instructors will provide game-based challenges using Minecraft EDU software. NOTE: Students will need to bring their own headphones.

• Use Minecraft EDU software to complete challenges

• Visit from video game design expert

• Camp Prerequisite: basic knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Windows® Operating System

 

Gamecasting 1.0 (Ages 10-12)

Do you love video games and video production? Do you love watching Twitch streams and Let's Plays? Learn the basics of capturing content, creating storylines, and editing together amazing videos of your gaming adventures in our Gamecasting camp! All created content will be given to campers at the end of their camp for uploading at parents' discretion.

 

Machine Masterminds (Ages 10-12)

Creativity and technology collide in The Science Garage this summer! Turn your ideas into reality during the ultimate maker experience this summer while competing in daily maker challenges. The best learning happens by doing, and in this camp you’ll be doing plenty!

• Use of The Science Garage Workshop as the campers’ home base

• Using real tools for building projects

• Build and launch rockets

 

Science Girls (Ages 10-12)

Bring your questions and your appetite for all things science to our camp just for girls!, We’ll dig deeper into the truth behind sound, DNA, chocolate, and so much more. Finish off with a spectacular rocket launch and experiments that will knock your socks off!
