Come celebrate a day of learning at the Science Centre.

There will be drop-in activities throughout the building from 10:00a.m. to 2:30p.m.

Enjoy special presentations in the IMAX:

  • Weather Watch with Josh Classen (at 10:00 am)
  • Global Soundscapes (at 2:30pm)


Visit different galleries and learning spaces for exciting drop-in programming.

Engage in hands-on activities, such as building a harmonica and learning about soundwaves.

Your ticket gets you access to all drop in activities, both IMAX presentations and to our Feature Gallery, Dinosaurs: The Exhibition.

Laser Queen

Show Description:

Queen's epic songs provided a soundtrack to the 70s and 80s. Laser Queen was inspired by these Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, and combines their biggest hit songs with intense laser programming for one heck of a show.

Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia 3D

At the height of its power between the 9th and 15th centuries, Angkor was a resplendent city, considered the most extensive urban complex of the pre-industrial world. But by the late 16th century, this capital of the Khmer empire was being overrun by the surrounding jungles. The people of Angkor left not a single word explaining why their kingdom was abandoned. Come along this giant screen adventure to unveil the mysteries behind this lost jewel of Cambodia!

Asteroid Hunters IMAX 3D

Venture into deep space for a fascinating look at asteroids, their cosmic origins and the potential threat they pose to our world with the IMAX original film Asteroid Hunters. Narrated by Daisy Ridley, Asteroid Hunters introduces asteroid scientists   the best line of defense between Earth and an asteroid s destructive path   and reveals the cutting-edge tools and techniques they use to detect and track asteroids, and the technology that may one day protect our planet. The effects of an asteroid impact could be catastrophic and while the current probability of an event in our lifetime is low, the potential consequences make the study of asteroids an incredibly important area of scientific research. Witness the latest in planetary defense and how science, ingenuity and determination combine to explore the world s most preventable natural disaster.


Australia's Great Wild North 3D

Running Time: 50 minutes

Far Northern Australia is a land of extremes.  Huge bushfires ravage the ancient landscape in the dry season and the world's biggest thunderstorms bring torrential rain and flooding in the wet season. These almost Jurassic conditions have created some of the richest wetlands on Earth. The coast, rivers and waterholes are haunted by sharks. The plains are guarded by territorial buffalo and venomous snakes but the apex predator here is a living dinosaur the salt water crocodile. They have been on the planet in almost identical form for 200 million years - even surviving the meteor strike that wiped out the rest of the dinosaurs.



Backyard Wilderness 3D

Backyard Wilderness will surprise and entertain viewers with the unexpected wonders of nature that are right under our noses - in our own backyards. Spanning a seasonal year around a suburban home, the film displays a stunning array of unique wildlife images and behavior - all captured by cameras mounted inside dens and nests, and moving along the forest floor and pond bottom, to reveal its inhabitants in rare and breathtaking intimacy. 


BBC Earth's Antarctica 3D

Antarctica is a land of mystery and yet what happens here affects us all. It s the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth, but wonderful creatures thrive here in abundance. Swim alongside playful seals, soar above vast penguin colonies and witness the largest group of fin and humpback whales ever filmed. Although so remote from us, Antarctica and its surrounding Southern Ocean play avital role for the entire planet, regulating ocean currents, sea levels and sequestering huge amounts of carbon. It will take global cooperation and collaboration to protect Antarctica and ensure the future health of our planet.

Beavers 2D: The Director's Cut

Running Time: 45 minutes

Born to be Wild 3D

Born to be Wild is an inspiring story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals, narrated by Morgan Freeman. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them - caring for their needs as they progress through life.

Build It (Ages 5-7)

Using a variety of materials and tools, learn how to find creative solutions to help a storybook character conquer construction challenges and obstacles. Learners will test ideas in real time.

Call The Electrician (Ages 9-11)

Is it red wire to yellow wire? Configure and test different electrical boards based on its desired outcome. Circuits and circuits of fun!

Chilling Out (Ages 6-8)

In this chilling program., experiment with hot and cold chemical reactions, explore insulation, measure temperature, and make a very cool sweet treat using liquid nitrogen.


Cuba 2D

Experience a land of spectacular beauty that's home to people renowned for their passion in the film Cuba. You will be transported across breathtaking island landscapes, below the ocean surface to dazzling reefs, and into streets invigorated by music and dance in the heart of Havana.




Curious Kids (Grades 1-2)

Do you have a Curious Kid? A child who asks questions from morning till night? Put their curiosity to good use in this exciting camp! Campers will experience thrills, chills and spills as they investigate chemistry, biology, engineering and math! Campers will get to build and test a flying machine, and get messy in this science camp for everyone. 

Curious Kids will discover many aspects of STEAM in these fun general science camps. Each camp will be a little bit different and could include activities and experiments in chemistry, coding, nature, and space.

In addition to these activities, each camp will visit the Feature Gallery, see a movie in the IMAX theatre or watch a presentation in the Zeidler Dome during the camp.



Dark Matters: The Science of Sex

It's the hottest night of the year! Enjoy provocative talks by local experts exploring all things naughty and nice. Get in on the action and learn about crazy animal sex lives, what a cell phone and a vibrator have in common, and so much more!

Dinosaurs of Antarctica 3D

The first original large-format dinosaur film in over a decade, Dinosaurs of Antarctica will introduce audiences to the amazing and bizarre prehistoric creatures that inhabited Antarctic forests and swamps hundreds of millions of years ago. With major support provided by the National Science Foundation, the film follows a team of paleoecologists on a quest to understand the southern continent's profound transformation, from a warm and bio-diverse Mesozoic to the frozen desert we know today.
