Journey to Mecca tells the story of Ibn Battua, a great explorer in the 14th century.  A young scholar, who leaves Tangier on an epic and perilous journey, traveling alone from his home in Morocco to reach Mecca, some 3,000 miles to the east.  During his travels he is attacked by bandits, dying of thirst, rescued by Bedouins, joins thousands of pilgrims on the legendary Damascus Caravan, and many other countless obstacles.  Ibn Battuta's legacy is one of the greatest travel journals ever recorded as he traveled three times further than Marco Polo.
