Pre-packaged science kits are everywhere. But what happens when we don't follow the instructions? In this camp, your curious kid will get to deconstruct a variety of science kits and investigate the results when their imaginations and creativity take over. If your budding scientist likes to follow their intuition rather than instructions, this is the camp for them.

 

Let There Be Light - Home School Program

Smoke and mirrors will enlighten the students  minds and spark their imagination as they study the fascinating phenomenon of light.  Hands-on activities will involve mirrors, lenses, and fibre optics.  Join them as they learn about refraction, reflection, and meet the laser light maze challenge.

This program offers the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of algorithms, debugging, loops, and pattern analysis. Your students will put newfound skills to use to open a locked puzzle box.

Make + Take - Homeschool Edition: Learn to Solder

Learn to Solder Electronics!

Students will get a lesson in soldering components working on their very own electronic circuit board project. There are a variety of electronic projects to choose that range from making a USB charger, to an LED Volume Meter or a digital clock and more! Some projects may take more time than others, but the workshop will be available to enrolled students until the end of the day.

Make + Take - Homeschool Edition: Power Tools!

Learn skills that will last a lifetime! With guidance from the Science Garage team, students will use a variety of materials and tools to build a their own candy dispenser. We will go over safety, tool techniques and how to choose the right tool for the job.

In this musical program, we will explore vibration, pitch, and volume of sound through hands-on experiments and demonstrations.

Mechanics in Action - Home School Program

Get your students pumped up about hydraulics and pneumatics in this hands-on exploration of the science of fluids in motion and under pressure. Students will investigate the scientific principles underlying fluid mechanics, manipulate hydraulic devices to learn how they work and then problem-solve the construction of their own challenges using LEGO® pneumatic kits.

Laboratory Safety: For the safety of all participants in our science laboratory, all students must wear long pants and closed shoes while participating in TELUS World of Science Lab Programs. Please, no skirts, shorts or sandals

Minerals Rock - Home School Program

From sand to gold, rocks and minerals are all around us. Come and explore how rocks are made, while investigating our rock samples.

Students will be challenged with mineral characteristics in this hands-on program that rocks!

Mini Make & Take Rocket Launch

On July 1st, celebrate the way we have always celebrated at TELUS World of Science- Edmonton and launch your own rocket! Build a rocket in the Science Garage and launch in the afternoon. We will supply your rocket kit, engine, and all the consumable materials you may need to build your rocket. Join us in Coronation Park in the afternoon to launch your rocket!

Build times: 10:00-12:00, 1:00-3:00

Recommended for all ages. Children 12 and under require adult supervision.
